PASTIMES: MEMBERS-ONLY SPECIAL EVENTS
Cardinal Nation
Friday, January 28
11 a.m.
Lee Auditorium
Free
For generations, St. Louis has been called a "baseball town." Countless St. Louis Cardinals fans have lasting memories of the sport, from taking a trip on the streetcar to Sportsman's Park with a Knot Hole Gang pass, watching Mark McGwire hit home runs at Busch Stadium or joining in the excitement of post-season play. In conjunction with the Baseball As America exhibition, the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum and the Missouri Historical Society have teamed up to create a supplemental exhibition displayed in the History Museum's MacDermott Grand Hall. The exhibition showcases baseball memorabilia from the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum, which was founded in 1968 and is the official repository for the history and
heritage of the National League franchise (1892-present). Join Paula Homan, curator from the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum, and MHS Bascom Curator Sharon Smith for a lecture and slide presentation on America's favorite pastime. From World Series rings to Knot Hole Gang passes, the rich texture of the sport of baseball will be discussed and remembered by the best fans of the game.
